Auction Rules

YOUNGSTOWN AREA TROPICAL FISH SOCIETY AUCTION RULES

All sales are “FINAL” and all items are purchased “AS IS”.

This is a 4 colored dot system auction. YATFS will supply the stickers. YATFS will choose the order the colors will be auctioned. You will be told which color is first.

70% to seller. 30% to YATFS.

YOUR ITEMS MUST BE PROPERLY LABELED WITH YOUR NAME, PHONE NUMBER, or EMAIL ADDRESS. Include your seller code (3 letters), item number, and a complete accurate description (quantity, sex, age, working condition etc.) DO NOT SKIP NUMBERS.

Fish are to be bagged properly & should be double bagged in appropriate fish bags. No “baggies” or kitchen type bags are to be used. A $2.00 fee will be charged to the seller for inappropriately bagged fish. No diseased or deformed fish are permitted in the auction.

There is an entry limit of 5 similar items, i.e., 5 bags of a color morph of fish or 5 bags of a species of plant.

All tabs must be paid before you leave the premises. DRIVERS LICENSE WILL BE HELD UNTIL TAB PAID. Make checks out to YATFS. No starter checks. There is a $35.00 fee for any returned checks. YATFS reserves the right to require cash only payments from those with a past record of returned checks. DISCOVER, MASTER CARD, VISA, AMERICAN EXPRESS CREDIT CARDS ARE ACCEPTED. NO PRIVATE SALES.

Neither YATFS nor the Lake Milton Baptist Temple is responsible for any auction item lost. Neither are we responsible for any injuries incurred on the premises. Parents will be held responsible for the actions of their children.

Minimum bid of $2.00 required on all items. Items not receiving a minimum bid of $2.00 will not be put up for auction again. The seller’s tab will be marked “$0.00″and the item will become property of YATFS. It will be grouped with other no sale items and sold at the end of the auction.

EXPRESS BIDDING: If there is an item you would like brought up to the auction earlier than its allotted table, bring it to the registration desk, pay a $3.00 fee and the item will be auctioned ASAP. The highest bidder will win the item regardless of who paid the EXPRESS fee.

No smoking on Church property. You are permitted to smoke in designated areas
 
BY PARTICIPATING IN THIS AUCTION YOU AGREE TO THE RULES SET FORTH BY YOUNGSTOWN AREA TROPICAL FISH SOCIETY.

Remember

  1. Do at least a 50% water change at 24 and 12 hours before bagging.
  2. Fill out labels ahead of time. Include the following information:
    -Seller’s 3-letter ID and bag number (in sequence)
    – Species name and ‘common’ name
    -Number of fish in the bag – circled
    – Sex of fish, fry ‘born on’ date, special instructions
    -Telephone number [Ed. Note: include e-mail address, these days]
  3. Assemble needed equipment:
    – Plastic bags (double bagging preferred)
    – Rubber bands (I use size 32)
    – Labels (filled out prior with waterproof marker)
    – Fresh water and poly filter or stress coat type product
    – Styrofoam box or cooler
  4. Fill bag 1/3 full of fresh dechlorinated water
    – Gently place fish in bag
    – Add a squirt of stress coat or like product
  5.  Fill bag 2/3 full of air
    – Use oxygen if they are in bag more than a few hours.
    – Tightly rubberband bag.  
  6. Invert bag and place in second bag
    – Tuck in corners to prevent trapping little fish
    – Tightly rubberband second bag
  7. Wipe any water off bag and carefully label
  8. Place bag in styro or cooler
  9.  Reminders:
    Please do not sell sick or deformed fish.
    Bag males and females separately if aggressive.
    Hard goods should be clean and properly labeled.
    Arrive on time; allow for ‘browsing’ time.
    Take pen and paper for auction selections – writing bag numbers.
    Volunteer to help the host club.
    Wear your YATFS shirt.
    Make sure you can accommodate your purchases.
